Creating props for Barefoot in the Park required imagination, creativity, and attention to detail. Many of the pieces were hand painted, including the Lord and Taylor department bags and the sides of the paint cans. The Knichi was an interesting endeavor to tackle - described by Velasco as having eel, olive, and spices, I eventually decided on a homemade beet gnocchi wrapped around black olive stuffed with a dill sprig - a delicacy easily “popped” into the mouth as Velasco demands.
