The Addams Family was my first professional paid costume design, and the director emphasized his desire to have the distinctly recognizable “Addams Family” on stage. For this production, I focused on giving both the audience and the director what they expected, while still making the hair and makeup looks achievable for high school students to complete on their own for runs of the show I would not have been present for. This was the third show where I had the opportunity to play with wigs, giving them to Morticia, Wednesday, and Grandma, and I was able to experiment with both bald caps and temporary hair dye as well.
